ITAS was set up in the early part of 2004 by Martin Hughes Snr when he retired from the construction industry. Over the years Martin had realised most trade associations are just clubs that anyone can join who is willing to part with the membership fee. So to help genuine trade professionals prove their ability to provide an excellent standard of work, and to provide the public with a safe way to find tradesmen he founded the Independent Trade Accreditation Scheme.

Although we are one of the UK's newest trade organisation's, we are also one of the most stringent when it comes to our members. As part of our service all ITAS approved tradesmen are covered by the "ITAS guarantee" which offers the public protection from cowboy tradesmen, and our tradesmen protection from cowboy customers (people who intentionally set out to rip off tradesmen).

What originally began as a good idea had blossomed into an upstanding, reputable and customer service driven trade association which now has over 6,700 members and is regularly protecting general public from rogue traders, whilst still offering our members a full protection system from rogue customers.

In Mid 2008 Martin Hughes Snr retired from running ITAS and handed it over to Quotation Supermarket who took over ITAS to ensure that ITAS members had a constant supply of high value, local work and that all Quotation Supermarket customers had the chance at a cost effective Trade Association membership that will help them stand out from the competition.
